guest profile
and the tranquillity of our surroundings we do not allow children
under 18 years of age and no pets are permitted
The guest area in
the main house has, clustered around a large fireplace, a well appointed bar
with DSTV, a pool table, a reading nook and the dining area, which has a
stunning view over the surrounding valleys, dams and mountains. To while away
misty afternoons or frosty evenings, we have board games, playing cards and
darts. There is cellphone reception.
The trout dam (the
tarn) is stocked with healthy trout and because we
cater for a limited number of guests the dam is never crowded.
The
surrounding montane grasslands are rich in bird and plant life and the bracing climate has resulted in
the area becoming the central point of the so-called Trout Triangle (formed by Lydenburg, Dullstroom and Belfast). We fall squarely within the much-vaunted
Highlands Meander and are well located for short trips to Dullstroom and
Lydenburg and for a relaxing stopover on your journey to Sabie, Graskop,
Pilgrims’ Rest or the Kruger Park.
The
Owl and Oak Trading Post: Only some 5km away there is the Owl and Oak Trading Post with
interesting shops and a fine restaurant. There is an exotic bird park and one
can arrange horse or quad-bike trails over the beautiful surrounding grassland.
Dullstroom: Dullstroom town
has numerous shops and galleries through which to browse, and a large selection
of restaurants and pubs. Near the town is the Bird of Prey and Rehabilitation
Centre with two flying displays daily. Horse riding and skeet shooting (by
appointment), and day fishing on other waters are possibilities further afield.
There are lovely drives around Dullstroom (most on less-than-perfect roads!).
